India’s first woman cybercrime investigator, The Inspirational Cyber Crime Investigator.

You could call it luck or turn of fate for Dhanya Menon, for having finally found a job of her dreams. For the business development manager, turning into a full time cybercrime investigator was indeed a serendipitous find. It was truly by chance that she happened to attend a one day workshop on cybercrime investigation, in Kochi, in 2004 and was completely hooked on to it, having felt somewhere inside her that she finally found her true forte in her career.

Dhanya, completed her Diploma in Cyber Crime from Asian School of Cyber Law located at Pune. Her Bachelor degree in Computing from British Columbia University, Canada, did help her lots in studying Cyber Crime. While doing her diploma she conducted workshops on cybercrime awareness for different institutions including schools, colleges and also for the police force of different states of India. Soon after completing her diploma course, she joined as a visiting faculty for Asian School of Cyber Law. Cybercrimes in India were at its sprouting stages during the years 2004-2006 and it was during this time that Dhanya was completely involved with her awareness programs for various organizations; her most acclaimed clientele being the police force of the Kerala state.

By 2007 Dhanya was a full-time Cybercrime investigator having completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Crime from ICFAI and a Cybercrime Investigation course from Asian School of Cyber Law. Her farfetched dream to be a super slue had turned true. She was selected as an associate of the Cybercrime Investigation Team of the Indian Government that was involved in crackling high profile cases. A few of the major cases that she was a part of were:

Dhanya was awarded the ‘First Women Achievers’ Awards being organised by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. It gives us immense pleasure to inform you that you have been selected by Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Union Minister of Women & Child Development for this honour for being ‘India’s first woman Cybercrime Investigator’ in the year 2017.

And it was just a matter of time when she opened her own Cybercrime Investigation unit.
